Festival International Echternach
The Echternach Festival, created in 1975, was given an innovative touch in 2008 by a return to its spiritual and artistic roots of the abbey-town. To highlight the specific character of the programme planning, three concertcycles were created: a classical one in May and June partly focusing on classical programme “niches” (most of these concerts are in Echternach); a jazz programme in September/October in Echternach; and a special series with the European Union Baroque Orchestra.
This festival has been an EFA member since 1983.
Each EFA member manages its own Calendar. In case there is no programme availabable for this year, please visit the festival's own website.
Echternach has hosted its own, internationally acknowledged, music festival since 1975.
The event, under the patronage of Her Royal Highness, the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, takes place annually.
Since 2008, the Festival offers three series: a classical programme in May-June, a jazz programme in September and a special series "Echter'Barock", in collaboration with the European Union Baroque Orchestra, for five years in residence at the new concert hall Trifolion in Echternach.
In 2008, Alexander Mullenbach has replaced Cyprien Katsaris as artistic director for the classical programme, whereas Gast Waltzing has become artistic director for the jazz festival.
