International Festival Sarajevo Winter
We would like to invite you, together with other citizens of Sarajevo, artists and architects, to participate in the spiritual and material reconstruction of Sarajevo - a free, open city, a crossroad of cultures and civilizations.
This festival has been an EFA member since 1995.

History
The International Festival Sarajevo "Sarajevo Winter" is a traditional meeting place for artists and citizens of the world here in Sarajevo.
The first Festival was held from December 21, 1984 until April 6, 1985. During the sixteen years of its existence the Festival has become an inseparable part of life of the city and his inhabitants. Those sixteen years and 770days of "Sarajevo Winter" have seen some 1904 different performances and exhibitions, with over 2.346.320 visitors and 17.386 participants.
Artists come from all over the world to participate in the Festival "Sarajevo Winter". The Festival has been held without interruption every year since inception, and has become a symbol of freedom of creativity and familiarization with different world cultures and civilizations.
Together with the International Peace Center, the "Sarajevo Winter" Festival was the initiator and organizer of the project "Sarajevo, Cultural Center of Europe" , from December 21, 1993 until March 21, 1994 (The period between two Cultural Centers of Europe, Antwerp'93 and Lisbon'94).
The idea was supported by the City Assembly of Sarajevo, and by 11000 famous personalities and many distinguished institutions, from all over the world. The International Peace Canter and the International Festival Sarajevo "Sarajevo Winter" intended to reopen this initiative for the beginning of the next century.
The organizer of the International Festival Sarajevo "Sarajevo Winter" is the International Peace Center, a member of International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) - New York and European Festival Association (EFA) -Geneva. The Festival " Sarajevo Winter" has been held under the patronage of the European Union, UNESCO, the Council of Europe, and the City and Canton of Sarajevo.
