Atelier for Young Festival Managers BEIRUT 2013: EFA extends application deadline until 1 May 2013

In response to numerous requests, the European Festivals Association (EFA) extends the deadline for application of the Atelier for Young Festival Managers BEIRUT 2013 until 1 May 2013. Thus, EFA gives the opportunity to more emerging artistic directors and curators worldwide to apply to this unique 7-day training programme. Furthermore, EFA is delighted about the broad international partnership with institutes in the region and worldwide, which have confirmed their support. This sixth edition of the Atelier, BEIRUT 2013, organised by EFA and the Beiteddine Art Festival is the first Atelier in the Arab world and takes place from 5-12 October 2013 in Beirut, Lebanon. Applications have to be submitted via an online application form. You can contact EFA with any questions you may have at atelier@efa-aef.eu 45 participants to meet 10 presenters 45 young festival managers from all over the world will be selected to attend the Atelier. Under the coordination of Hugo De Greef (former EFA Secretary General, General Manager Bruges European Capital of Culture 2002, Founder and former Director Kaaitheater, Brussels), some ten presenters from all over the world – all renowned, trailblazing festival managers – will share their rich experiences with the participants. Four mentors have already confirmed their participation: Bernard Faivre d’Arcier (former long-standing Artistic Director of the Avignon Festival and President of the Lyon Biennial - France), Rose Fenton (Director Free Word, Co-Founder LIFT Festival, London – UK), Nele Hertling (Vice-Chair of the Academy of Arts Berlin - Germany), Jonathan Mills (Festival Director and Chief Executive Edinburgh International Festival - UK). The sixth edition of the Atelier for young festival managers will bring together a strong selection of diverse participants with various backgrounds active in all arts disciplines, emerging artistic directors of festivals from all over the world. The diversity of the group united in the shared ambition to be trained to run artistically high-level festivals will be the guiding line during the Atelier and the legacy way beyond the 7 days. Participants will be introduced to Lebanon’s diverse art scene including encounters with Zoukak theatre company, international festivals at enchanting locations as Beiteddine, Baalbeck and Al Bustan, Zicco House, Omar Rajeh and the Bipod Festival, Askhal Alwan, the Beirut Art Centre, several theatres, artists, directors, choreographers and many more.
