Atelier for Young Festival Managers BEIRUT 2013 postponed

16 September 2013

The Atelier for Young Festival Managers that was planned to take place in Beirut from 5 to 12 October 2013 will be postponed due to the situation in the region. The European Festivals Association, the initiator of the training programme, and the Beiteddine Art Festival, the local co-organiser, have decided to postpone the Beirut edition of the Atelier until October 2014.

EFA and its partners hope that the situation in Lebanon and the region will stabilise. “A first edition of the Atelier for Young Festival Managers in the Arab world indeed remains essential for the training programme, as the local context poses specific challenges for the cultural sector in general and festival management in particular,” underlines EFA President Darko Brlek.

To offer selected and prospect participants a good alternative, EFA is delighted to announce the upcoming Ateliers: in Edinburgh, UK in collaboration with the Edinburgh International Festival (3-10 April 2014), in Poznan, Poland in collaboration with the Malta Festival (Autumn 2014, exact dates tbc, call for application to be launched by the end of 2013), the postponed edition in Beirut, Lebanon in collaboration with the Beiteddine Art Festival (October 2014, exact dates tbc), and the first Atelier in Africa in Kampala, Uganda in collaboration with the Bayimba International Arts Festival (21-28 September 2014).
