Chopin Piano Fest "Prishtina" celebrates fifth anniversary

7 April 2014

The Kosovo Chopin Association will organise the Chopin Piano Fest "Prishtina" for the fifth time from 7-27 April 2014. The fifth edition of the festival will bring together distinguished pianists from the region and all over Europe for a cultural exchange. Most importantly, the festival offers a unique opportunity to local artists who strive for better conditions in the music performance sector. The Podium for young artists offers an opportunity for young pianists.

This year, the festival is supported by the European Commission. Music is a language of communication between peoples and cultures. The festival organisers used this opportunity to initiate a musical dialogue between young people from Kosovo and Serbia. A duo of a Kosovar and Serbian pianists are part of the Podium.

The festival is highly appreciated by critics, fans and a growing audience as an excellent presentation of the mastery of piano, offering interpretations by both world renowned pianists and local talents.

The Chopin Piano Fest Prishtina offers an opportunity to see and enjoy live piano performances by local and international distinguished pianists performing piano works not only of Chopin, but also of other well-known composers, classical and contemporary ones. The attractive programme is selected and prepared ( in cooperation with participating artists) by Festival Artistic Director Prof. Lejla Haxhiu-Pula, the first pianist in Kosovo. With her experience and knowledge as the main piano professor at the University of Prishtina since the 70′s she makes sure that the festival programme offers new insights into piano music repertoire by different musicians worldwide.
