British Arts Festivals Association
BAFA is the meeting point of arts festivals in the UK, providing information and a professional network for the festivals movement. Festival Membership is open to all arts festivals in the UK. It is an independent organisation, working to encourage awareness of arts festivals and raise their profile and status. BAFA is not involved in the programming or finances of its festival members and does not promote individual artists, companies or tours.

L'Histoire du festival
BAFA represents over 100 arts festivals across the UK covering a hugespectrum of the arts. There is international theatre and dance at Brighton, Belfast and Edinburgh, classical and contemporary music at Aldeburgh, Bath and Cheltenham, contemporary music at Huddersfield, opera at Buxton, BOC Covent Garden Festival and Edinburgh, early music at York, Spitalfields and Warwick, jazz at Bath, Bracknell, Cheltenham, and worldmusic at Window on the World.
And in London, there are the great festivals of the BBC Proms, the City of London Festival, LIFT, and Greenwich + Docklands Festival, plus many smaller festivals in London's so-called 'villages' such as Hampstead and Highgate. The rich mixture of styles for which London is known, is reflected in festivals with concerts in historic venues such as Spitalfields and City of London events, and, for a completely different atmosphere, in the out of doors celebration of Sacred Voices festival in London parks.
London's informal street life is celebrated in festivals in Islington, Stoke Newington and Southwark's Borough Market.BAFA brings together festivals from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland for seminars, training courses and conferences. All the festivals involved are artistically independent.
