EFA websites (public and private)

The EFA websites are by far the most relevant communication tools of the Association. It has a public part as well as an extranet which is accessible for members' only. It is without any doubt the most effective, direct, up-to-date communication tool between the secretariat and all EFA members but also between members, between members and partner organizations as well as with the greater public.

The public website is EFA's window to the world and an exclusive opportunity for its members to make their name and festival known to an increasing public. It offers a permanent visibility and accessibility to latest data and a constant flow of information about EFA members, their contact details, programmes, news etc and EFA activities.

Everybody who has access to the Internet can enter the EFA website. Available both in English and French, the web pages provide information about the activities of the Association on the one hand (mission, membership, staff, Board, flagship projects including the European Atelier for Young Festival Managers, the EFA BOOKS Series, the European Festival Research Project, the Declaration on Intercultural Dialogue, meetings and conferences…) and all EFA member festivals, national festivals associations and associated networks on the other. Each member has an individual webpage allowing access to

In addition, an overall calendar listing all member events as well as a European map both help searching for individual festivals or events.

There are pictures from the most important meetings and an enumeration of the latest news from EFA projects and activities, from members and partners.

EFAextra, the internal EFA website, allows members to enjoy the exclusive services and tools of EFA. EFAextra has different objectives. It is a tool of communication with EFA members and vice versa as well as the working platform for EFA members to manage their respective public part on the EFA website.

All members have login-accounts and passwords in order to enter the website and update their festival's profile, history and detailed programme. This specific tool gives members the opportunity to manage their respective page flexibly on a daily basis. The same kind of technology allows each festival to put news items online.

The Discussion Forum encourages ongoing debates on co-productions and other festival- and arts-related topics.

The Multimedia Section (audio and video) extents programming, promotion and co-production opportunities offering pieces of music, opera, theatre or dance or parts of a certain festival programme. This way, an "EFA arts selection" is developed, a high-standard library of selected performances and artistic productions.

A particular section is devoted to EFA activities/EFA at work. By way of several chapters (e.g. Ars Nova, General Assembly, EFA Finances, Intercultural Dialogue, European Atelier, Research, Press & Communication offering a press list that can be generated to different formats, Newsletters Archive), members can turn to relevant documents such as press releases, reports, statistics, newsletters or reviews.

The Address Book gives access to an enormous amount of personal contacts of all the organisations and their staff related to EFA offering an update function to change personal data or passwords, and a classical listing of all festivals and staff with a search option.

EFA is developing an E-shop which provides cultural products such as DVD's, CD's, books of high artistic quality rarely found in common merchandise businesses. A regular update is foreseen as to supply the latest publications in the cultural field.

A manual on the functioning of the website may be consulted as a rather useful guide in the digital landscape of EFAextra.

The main goal of this private website is to create a transparent membership policy on all levels: between the administration and the members and between all festivals. Transparency is an unconditional basis to secure an unlimited interchange of information offering all members a maximum of services to become open, international, leading and successful festivals.
