The flow of information and the proliferation of know-how and up-to-date material is a key task of a membership network. EFA applies various offline and online tools in this respect:
In 2007, 'for members only' has been launched. This series assembles the results of various projects, researches, reports and dossiers which EFA has been working on; in other words, useful material which is produced within the Association that we would like to share with all EFA members. It aims to increase the knowledge on issues that are at festivals' concern, as well as to stimulate and help members in their daily festival work. 'for members only' is regularly distributed to all members by postal matter and is also available digitally on EFAextra.
for members only 1 is dedicated to the European Quality Press, a unique database of contact information about the most important cultural media and journalists in altogether 34 different countries: the first European database of cultural-related journalists (newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, digital media). An online database generated to different formats (Excel, pdf…) is available on EFAextra and updated on a regular basis.
for members only 2 highlights 'Festival life in Africa and Asia'. It brings together data, contacts and reflections on 'Festival life in Africa and Asia' striving to inspire the artistic festival work to look for sources of inspiration in the African as well as Asian context, to help to establish contacts with colleagues in other continents and to ultimately further dialogue between the festival sectors in Europe, Asia and Africa.
for members only 3 is entitled 'Festivals – Promoters of Intercultural Dialogue' and depicts the various ways and best practices how festival act as fruitful platforms and promoters of the development of intercultural competences in Europe.
The EFA secretariat continues its research projects and is planning future publications of the 'for members only'-series. Topics for upcoming "for members only" are membership development and services, European subsidies for networks and festivals and the EFA research project.
