Director of Culturescapes

Jurriaan Cooiman is the founder and director of the Culturescapes festival (2003). He has been living and working in Basel, Switzerland, since 1994, organising music and dance festivals. He studied cultural management at the University of Basel and taught cultural management seminars at Hamburg University. Culturescapes is a multidisciplinary biennial arts festival that focuses on the cultural landscapes of countries and regions. Since 2021, it works with socio-environmental systems such as Amazonia (2021), Sahara (2023-2025), and the oceans (2027).
