The Festivals and Cities Meet up is a collective conversation, a joint reflection between representatives of cities and festivals from Girona, Catalonia and delegates from other European regions on the following question: How do cities and festivals work together to address local cultural, environmental, social and economic challenges? How do they share their views on these issues? How do they agree, or not, on the role of arts festivals and the means of their conscious cooperation in responding to the ongoing changes in our society?

The discussion will build on local situations (in particular: being a border region, challenges in rural areas, relationship between city centres and peripheries) in order to open up the exchange between the participants. It will be moderated by Nele Hertling and Nicolas Bertrand from A Soul for Europe, following the encouraging experience in the Arts Festivals Summit 2022 in Yerevan.
