Festival Cities and Regions Workshop - Arts Festivals Summit 2024

Tuesday, 14 May 2024 | 9.00-12.00

Hotel Kaiserhof Heringsdorf - Kulmstraße 33, 17424 Heringsdorf

A hands-on Festival Cities and Regions Workshop organised in partnership with “A Soul for Europe” will take place on 14 May from 9.00 till 12.00. This workshop aims to offer a platform for exchanges and knowledge gathering around the relation between festivals and their cities, inviting festivals and cities alike to take the floor and get into dialogue with each other.

We will ask questions including:

  • What is new in your relation between cities and festivals that you think is relevant to share with the other cities and regions?
  • What are the methodologies used by cities and regions to consult their festivals: How do cities and regions initiate and strengthen their dialogue with their festivals? How do cities ‘value’ their festivals - in which policy areas and actions do they address festivals? How do festivals define their relation with their cities beyond funding opportunities? We are tapping into the variety of experiences and political ideas of relation.
  • What is the state of play of the work in progress of the EFFE Seal for Festival Cities and Regions focusing on Environmental Sustainability.

Our conversations from practice to policy to proposals are hosted by Peter Inkei (Budapest Observatory) and conceptualised and facilitated by Nicolas Bertrand and Nele Hertling from A Soul for Europe. It is part of the Cities and Regions programme during the Arts Festivals Summit Usedom and builds on the sessions organised at the Yerevan Summit in 2022 and the Peralada / Girona Summit in 2023.
