Open Air International Theatre Festival PRIZREN FEST promotes the development of the theatrical arts and providing a unique cultural experience for audiences by organising an annual festival of theatres in an open air. The festival aims to showcase high-quality theatrical performances, support emerging and established artists, fostering cultural understanding and social cohesion, inspiring young people to engage with the arts and contributing to the cultural and economic development of the community in general.
The artistic fields that were touched in 2022, 31 July till 4 August (first edition) and 2023, 22 till 28 July (second edition) are: theatre, dance theatre, music, cultural heritage, applied arts, poetry, literature, workshops, conferences etc. The scope of activities is throughout the city, making use of all the suitable spaces that are available in Prizren/Kosovo, including public and private spaces: yards of Lumbardhi Cinema, Hammam, Prizren League, Museum’s yards, Mosques, Churches, Temples, Stone Bridge as well as squares of the city and not limited to these premises.
The first edition of the festival was held for 5 and second one for 8 full nights in the beautiful city of Prizren/Kosova, hosting many professional artists from Ukraine, Italy, France, Greece, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Montenegro, Republic North of Macedonia, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and Kosova.
Prizren Fest is a cultural event which has filled the lack of theatrical audiences and the presentation of international shows in the city of Prizren. Based on the requests and reactions of professionals in the field of art, the public and citizens, the lack of theatre in general has been felt for many years. Now in its third year, the festival has become a cultural event where the Prizren community and international visitors can enjoy open-air theatre in a unique and timeless way. The third edition will be a beautiful celebration of culture and art, including other cultural and social activities to help build a deep connection between the community and theatre arts, as the area covered by our programme/project is deficiencies in our city.
Prizren Fest is creating a lasting cultural legacy and celebrating the potential of open-air theatre as a powerful tool to spread messages, encourage reflection and connect people through a unique artistic experience under the open sky of Prizren.
