CULTURESCAPES is a multidisciplinary biennial festival with 20-years history.

We aspire to promote cross-border dialogue and mutual learning between cultures, as well as cooperation and networking. Our mission is to be the platform for advocacy for more inclusive, pluricultural, open, and responsible societies.

Since 2003, the festival focuses on the cultural landscapes of a country or a region. Based in Basel, Switzerland, it extends its presence far beyond one city or country.

The 2021 edition was dedicated to Amazonia. More than 150 events with over 300 artists (including over 200 from Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and Venezuela) attracted an audience of more than 23'500 visitors. In addition, CULTURESCAPES presented an online program for the first time this year and was thus accessible to a worldwide audience. The CULTURESCAPES Digital Space hosted around 8'000 visitors.

Past editions focused on Georgia (2003), Israel (2011), the Balkans (2013), Tokyo (2014), Iceland (2015), Greece (2017), and Poland (2019), among others.

CULTURESCAPES 2021 Amazonia marked the beginning of a new festival series focusing on regions of global significance. It continued into CULTURESCAPES 2023 Sahara and 2025.
