Rūta Prusevičienė was born in 1968 in Vilnius, Lithuania. In 1991, she graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music, Musicology Division.

She is currently the General Director of the National Philharmonic Society of Lithuania since October 2006 (currently serving 4th five-years term) as well as the Artistic and Executive Director of Vilnius Festival since February 2001.

Rūta Prusevičienė is also Former Jury member of EFFE (Europe for festivals, festivals for Europe) award and Chairwoman of Association of Lithuanian Arts and Culture Institutions
