Festival Ljubljana 2012: celebrating 60th anniversary

The Festival Ljubljana is in full preparation of its 60th anniversary, which will be celebrated in 2012. The celebration will start with the opening of the festival on 20 June in Cankarjev dom, with the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra, conducted by the world-famous Sir Simon Rattle and performing works by J. Brahms, A. von Webern and R. Schumann. Other highlights in the jubilee year will include a concert of opera arias with conductor Valery Gergiev, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Le sacre du printemps (The Rite of Spring) performed by BĂ©jart ballet de Lausanne, two concerts of MIO 2012, a concert by the Chamber Orchestra of the Vienna Music Society, a musical Jesus Christ Superstar produced by Bronowski, the traditional concert by Vlado Kreslin and many more. The Festival Ljubljana will also take a look at the original programme back in 1952. The 60th edition will close on 4 September 2012 with a concert of the remarkable Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra of Sankt Peterburg and Valery Gergiev in Cankarjev dom.
