The Composers Factory: the European Composers Forum invites to join

3 April 2012

Without audiences, music does not take place. We have to put the strongest efforts into raising and developing open-minded, contemporary-thinking, and enthusiastic audiences who attend concerts, events, presentations, and workshops of contemporary music today and will continue to do so over the next 10, 20 and 30+ years. The Composers Factory will become a European-wide initiative, gathering existing expertise and experience, collating this and making it available through networks and shared platforms. This Forum will pool information, promote initiatives and enable progress together on European, national, regional and local levels. Project Outline The Composers Factory will connect contemporary composers with schools, music schools, colleges and higher education (conservatoires, universities). It will also link to adult education and society as a whole. Composers will take part in the Factory programme personally and individually. The Composers Factory will raise general awareness of the fact that contemporary music is an integral AND practical part of education for everyone. Methods & Action - The Composers Factory will... • bring together the key decision makers involved in educational programmes (networks, institutions/NGO's, experts) with music creators (composers and their networks). • involve policy makers and politicians (EU, national & regional governments and officers in charge for (music) education). • encourage teachers and other music educational professionals to get in touch with contemporary composers, especially in their locality. • encourage composers (young and old) to engage in educational projects. The Composers Factory is Networking... • A central contact point • A link between composers, animateurs and other practitioners • A link between composers and colleges, schools, teachers and educators • A link between composers and musicians and other interested performers Get in touch with 21st Century Composers now! The Composers Factory (initiated by the European Composers Forum) aims at connecting living composers with schools, music schools, music colleges and higher education institutions such as conservatoires and universities. It further addresses the adult & amateur music scene. If you join the Composers Factory network you become part of a growing community of contemporary music creators (composers) and music teachers, trainers and audience developers who are looking for partners to develop & realise contemporary music education projects together. Be it on regional, national or European level. The Composers Factory is designed as knitting point and information turntable for everyone interested in this field of activity.
