The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) has published those European Cultural Festivals 2012 (Strand 1.3.6) that were selected for the annual EU grant following the call of November 2011. Out of 275 applications from 32 countries, 14 festivals are receiving funding. Three festivals both from Germany – the Bayreuth Festival of Young Artists, the transmediale - festival for art and digital culture and the 12th international literature festival berlin with its section for International Children's and Youth Literature – and Slovenia – the Vilenica International Literary Festival, the Festival Maribor and Festival Lent 2012 – were awarded the grant. Furthermore, Festival Europavox (France), Punkt Festival (Norway), ImPulsTanz - Vienna International Dance Festival (Austria), Street Musicians Festival (Serbia), Festival Mysteries of Europe / XXI Storytelling Marathon (Spain), London Jazz Festival (UK), iDANS International Contemporary Dance and Performance Festival (Turkey) and the Gaudeamus Music Week (Netherlands) were selected. The purpose of the strand is to support European cultural festivals with a view to encourage exchanges of experience through the mobility of European professionals in the cultural field; promote the circulation of cultural works by giving access to non-national European cultural works to the largest possible audience and promote intercultural dialogue. Only festivals having held at least five editions on the date on which the application was submitted were eligible. Moreover, works from at least seven countries taking part in the Culture Programme had to be included in the programming. A grant of up to 100.000 EUR was available per project. The next deadline for Strand 1.3.6 will be 15 November 2012. All details can be found on the Agency’s website.
