Access to Culture Platform’s Working Group on Audience Participation calls for contributions

The Access to Culture Platform’s Working Group on Audience Participation announces its call for research for a publication entitled “The Cultural Component of Citizenship: an Inventory of Challenges” (working title). Practical and theoretical research, conference presentations, interviews or any relevant contributions are welcome. Deadline for submission of abstracts is 16 July 2012. The publication aims to be as comprehensive as possible; perspectives from a wide range of cultural disciplines are envisioned to be included. The Editorial Committee of this peer-reviewed publication invites contributions in the form of: a paper or a case study, a best practice, a conference speech/presentation, interviews etc, also in video format, that focalise on certain aspects of this wide topic. Timeline: • Abstracts (not more than 500 words) to be submitted by 16 July 2012 • Complete paper to be submitted by 24 August 2012 In the frame of the European Year of Citizens, the Access to Culture Platform and partners aim to present the publication in various public moments and discuss its contents with the broader public during the whole year and beyond. First presentation moments: launch of the "Cultural Coalition for a Citizens’ Europe, Berlin on 10 November, Brussels from 16-18 November, and Amsterdam on 26 November 2012. The Felix Merits Foundation, the European House of Culture and the Access to Culture Platform (Audiences Participation Working Group, led by the European Festivals Association) are coordinating the publication.
