Members celebrate EFA's Diamond Jubilee: a series of concerts coming up all over Europe

In July and August, the Mosel Musikfestival, the Flanders Festival Bruges, the Ohrid Summer Festival, the Festival Internacional de Música Castell de Peralada and the Santander International Festival are dedicating concerts to the Diamond Jubilee of the European Festivals Association (EFA). The events are continuing a series of activities of the Association’s members to bring the anniversary to festival audiences around Europe and beyond. On 27 July at 20:00 at the Barocksaal Kloster Machern Bernkastel-Kues (Germany), the Mosel Musikfestival celebrates the EFA Jubilee with the Julia Fischer - Quartett. On 3 August, the Flanders Festival Bruges (Belgium) dedicates “Mia Speranza Adorata" Concertaria’s from Mozart to EFA’s Jubilee. The new period ensemble Les Ambassadeurs opens the festival with an exciting programme. It takes place at 20:00 at the Concertgebouw Brugge. On 4 August, the Ohrid Summer Festival invites to the Concert of PERPETUUM JAZZILE choir, taking place at 21:00 at the Antique Theatre Ohrid. The choir Perpetuum Jazzile from Slovenia is a world vocal attraction. Its performances are praised by the critics for their dynamic, rich harmonies, powerful rhythms, humour and charm. Perpetuum Jazzile's diverse repertoire comprises wide range of jazz and popular music genres (more information in the 2012 catalogue). "The Ohrid Summer Festival has the honour to dedicate this event to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of EFA. Since 1994, the Ohrid Summer Festival (which celebrates the 52nd edition in 2012) has been a member of the European Festivals Association, thus, the concert of Perpetuum Jazzile has been dedicated to honour the good collaboration, the support and the membership to this renowned association of European festivals. Congratulating EFA on its Diamond Jubilee, the Ohrid Summer Festival hopes to maintain the excellent collaboration in the future," says Gordana Josifova-Nedelkovska, Music Director of the Ohrid Summer Festival. On 14 August 2012 at 22:00, the Festival Internacional de Música Castell de Peralada offers the world premiere of the Java Suite, a one-act opera in co-production with the Theater Basel and OBCN Barcelona, by Agusti Charles and Marc Rosich. On 25 August at 21:00 at Sala Argenta, the Santander International Festival dedicates its closing performance to EFA’s anniversary. Following the motto “The Symphonic Universe & The Magic of Stage”, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia, conducted by Mihail Jurowski, performs Richard Wagner, Franz Schubert and Igor Stravinsky. EFA Secretary General Kathrin Deventer, will represent the Association and report back. The most recent events organised by EFA members include: on 24 June, a concert of the Orquesta Nacional de España in the framework of the Festival Internacional de Música y Danza de Granada, and on 26 June, the concert of the Wrocław Baroque Orchestra at the Concentus Moraviae International Music Festival (photo).
