Some performances – or more frequently, certain aspects of certain performances – live on in the mind’s ear or eye for ever. These moments change us, sometimes in a disturbing way, sometimes in a pleasurable way. There is a very real sense in which we are different ourselves as a result of the privilege of the experience.
