EFA members invited to participate in next AEN masterclass

18 November 2004

Please find hereafter an email we have received from our colleagues from the Audiences Europe Network (AEN) with the invitation to email the AEN team your comments, suggestions, ideas and concerns about the next AEN masterclass. Next event - we need your input Dear HUGO DE GREEF, Planning has started on the next AEN masterclass, due to take place in April 2005. And we need your help! It’s really important that we pull together a programme that is relevant and useful, and in a location that is interesting and accessible. So please give us your ideas and feedback, so we can ensure the masterclass meets your needs. The brief for the event is very much at the development stage, but here are our ideas: TOPIC: CULTURAL RESEARCH LOCATION: MILAN, ITALY In 2001 the Policy Studies Institute in the UK published a comprehensive and valuable critique of the UK's statistics. We hope to welcome contributors from different countries exploring the strengths and weaknesses of their governments' statistics in helping the cultural sector to understand its audiences. In addition, we hope to focus on the potential for benchmarking, including a pilot study about to be launched in the UK, providing venues with an inexpensive means of understanding their audiences, tracking changes over time and comparing themselves with other organisations. In addition to keynote presentations, there will be a strong focus on practical sessions and case studies, as we plan to offer a choice of workshops. There will also be an emphasis on discussion, sharing experience, and learning from one another. Please tell us what you think! And if you are interested in contributing to the event, for example by presenting a case study, then please let us know. Please email your comments, suggestions, ideas and concerns to info@audienceseurope.net. Thanks for your help! Tenerife masterclass Thanks to everyone who contributed to making the Cultural Tourism masterclass in Tenerife a success. It was attended by 50 delegates from 6 countries. For those of you who couldn’t make it, copies of the presentations will be posted on the website shortly. Best wishes from the team, Audiences Europe Network
