The next edition of TBILISI INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF THEATRE will take place in Tbilisi, Georgia from 25 September to 3 October 2015. After four successful years of the programme NEW, the festival opened the doors to its 5th edition, and calls for applications for participation in the programme NEW. Deadline is 1 April 2015.

TBILISI INTERNATIONAL runs every year at the end of September/beginning of October and is one of the major events in the international life of Georgia and the Black Sea Region. The festival’s reputation has been built on the quality of its programme, with the selected works of major international directors and companies from all over the world. This was the frame for the festival for the first two years since its foundation. But in search of theatre and artists that were beyond the festival’s focus and knowledge, it was decided to resize the frames, rethink the idea and as a result the festival presented its programme “NEW” for the first time in 2011.

NEW is very popular now. The wonderful works and artists from Israel, Poland, Lithuania, Argentina, Romania, Germany, Finland, Russia, India, Denmark, Slovenia, South Korea, and Azerbaijan made the idea of NEW successful. For four years the festival hosted around 20 performances from these countries.

Several of them were really special to Georgian audience, among them were: Performance “Terminal” (Iran Theater Workshop, Iran), Performance “Odysseus Chaoticus” (ISh Theatre, Israel), Performance “Perhaps, Perhaps... Quizás” (Clown Me In, Mexico), and Performance “Members of Our Limbs” (Kallo Collective, FINLAND).

The festival announces the programme every year with great anticipation of new works, discoveries and possibilities for festival and for artists.

With the programme NEW the festival wants to enable a focus on the work of innovative young, mid-career and emerging artists, providing a platform to share work and artistic ideas. The festival promotes an idea of showcasing and exploring works and artists who the festival has not reached and exposed yet.

The deadline to submit the call for applications is 1 April 2015. The performances that are selected will be announced by e-mail before 15 May 2015.
