The Festival Academy calls for application for the 14th edition of the Atelier for Young Festival Managers, taking place in Gothenburg, Sweden, 23 - 29 August 2018, hosted by and co-organised with Kultur i Väst, the cultural administration of the region Västra Götaland. 

Festival managers from across the globe are invited to apply here by 28 February 2018! 

Explore festival issues in various formats

Up to 40 participants will be selected for the 7-day training programme during which they will discuss various aspects of festival management with some ten renowned festival managers from pioneering festivals and outstanding art centres and institutes from all over the world. 

The mentors each stay for at least two full days, some the whole period and will work together with participants throughout the seven days (you can have a look here at the list of presenters of previous Ateliers for Young Festival Managers). 

During lectures, one-on-one talks and group discussions, as well as during intense workshops on case studies, issues such as artistic vision, public responsibility, creation and coproduction, internationalisation, networking, renewal and sustainability, will be explored.

Each Atelier is characterised by a different host city, its festivals and cultural life. The 14th edition takes place in Gothenburg, Sweden and participants will get to know the many facets of the city through local cultural players, artists and political representatives. Sessions will take place at various venues connected to the local community, hence the cultural life and context of the city will be experienced and analysed as part of the training programme.

Take the opportunity to join a unique global network of young festival makers that counts 528 alumni from almost 70 countries to date, after 12 Ateliers for Young Festival Managers since 2006 in Görlitz, Varna, Singapore, Izmir, Ljubljana, Edinburgh, Poznan, Beirut, Gwangju, Budapest, Chiang Mai, Merano and three editions of the Festival Production Management Training (2016, 2017 and 2018) and a first edition of the Atelier for Young Festival and Cultural Managers Shanghai (2017).
