La Traviata with a Timeless Love Story

23 August 2019

Ever since its premiere in 1853, La Traviata has been one of the most frequently performed of all operas. The reason for this is the enduring appeal of its timeless love story and its rich, incomparable melodies. The dramatic and emotional story, set in the light-hearted atmosphere of the Parisian salons, revolves around the distressing situation faced by a famed courtesan, Violetta, with whom a young nobleman, Alfredo, falls in love.

On this occasion, La Traviata will be performed by the Teatro Regio of Turin, one of the most important Italian theatres and one that enjoys great international acclaim. The lead roles of Violetta and Alfredo will be sung by the sopranos Maria Grazia Schiavo and Irina Dubrovskaya and tenor Giulio Pelligra. Of the two young singers taking on the challenging part of Violetta, Marija Mudrjak should be highlighted, as she is considered one of the most promising singers of her generation. In addition to the superb vocal cast, the opera will thrill audiences with stunning and complex stage sets.
