Arts Festivals Summit 2020 postponed!

19 March 2020

Instead: a Culture Summit for Hope from 23-25 November 2020

The impact of coronavirus and decisions taken by the Irish and more EU governments forced us to postpone this year’s Arts Festivals Summit 2020 (27-30 April) in Galway to 23-25 November 2020.  The European Festivals Association had to take this decision with a heavy heart and great thankfulness to Colm Croffy and the Association of Irish Festivals and Events (AOIFE), the city of Galway and all local partners and people who have shown their flexibility to invite us all later this year to Galway in the full trust that circumstances will allow.

We decided to postpone the Summit in order to work with the festivals community on a window of hope and commitment. The intention of November’s Arts Festivals Summit is to bring those ‘enabling’ stakeholders together that contribute to our commitment and work towards the artists, the arts and the audiences: Cities, sponsors, governments, EU and other stakeholders will be invited to dialogue with the festivals community, artists as well as concert halls, theaters and other artistic and cultural networks. You can already have a look at our new event page! More information will be shared in the following weeks.

We would also like to extend our solidarity to all those festivals, artists, cultural houses, people and families that are affected by this situation. We will keep our energy, enthusiasm and commitment up to serve our joint course.
