European Parliament President Martin Schulz new Chair of “A Soul for Europe” Advisory Board

Martin Schulz, the new President of the European Parliament, will take over the Chair of the “A Soul for EuropeAdvisory Board from the former President Jerzy Buzek. The Advisory Board comprises personalities from different fields in society such as business, civil society, culture and politics. The Board has a counselling function for the initiative. Its members see themselves as partners and supporters of the process and meet twice a year in Brussels. The members of the Advisory Board take the results back to their committees and constituencies. Together with the Parliamentarian Working Group, the Advisory Board is the instrument with whose help the Strategy Group of "A Soul for Europe" gains access to politics. It thereby serves as a bridge between civil society and political decision-makers. From bases in Amsterdam, Belgrade, Berlin, Brussels, Porto and Tbilisi “A Soul for Europe” is building an international network of European cities and regions, the cultural sector and business as well as European policy-makers. The organisational back-up for the initiative’s projects are four offices in Europe hosted by international organisations: Felix Meritis Foundation in Amsterdam, Stiftung Zukunft Berlin, the European House for Culture in Brussels and Setepés in Porto. The Cultural Front Belgrade and the Stichting Caucasus Foundation in Tbilisi are associated partner offices. The office coordinators are members of the "A Soul for Europe" Strategy Group.
