The International Symposium ”Music alongside Danube” is dedicated to classical music traditions and modern tendencies of Danube countries and interrelations among them. The Symposium taking place from 9 to 11 September 2024 combines theoretical forum, live music illustrations and evening concerts, with leading musicologists and artists from Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, and Slovakia.  

As part of it, an open-air exhibition “A Musical Flight over the Danube", organized in partnership with the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds, will be located at the entrance of the Sea Garden of Varna from 9 to 22 September 2024.  

In all countries through which the Danube River flows, it creates a peculiar symphony of bird songs performed on a stage of diverse and beautiful natural habitats. Preserving nature's marvels and the exceptional creations of musical geniuses is crucial for posterity.

Discover the iconic birds and natural areas along the Danube that are being researched and preserved by the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds. The photographs were created by some of Bulgaria’s most talented wildlife photographers.

This exhibition has been organised in the programme of Varna Summer International Music Festival 2024, as part of the International Symposium “Music alongside the Danube”.
