The European Festivals Association (EFA) is delighted to announce the release of The EFFE Seal Catalogue #1 On Environmental Sustainability. 

The EFFE Seal Catalogue #1 On Environmental Sustainability compiles practices, experiences, stories, and approaches implemented in the 2023-2024 festival season. Organised in six chapters — Policy, Programming, Operations, Communications, Experiments and Innovative Solutions, and Challenges — the catalogue highlights festivals' experiences and local governments’ policies when it comes to environmental sustainability. It reinforces the EFFE Seal’s mission to foster better cooperation between festivals and their local authorities for the joint development of territories.

The cities and regions joining under the EFFE Seal for Festival Cities and Regions, an initiative of EFA, have called on their festivals to share practices, proposals, ideas, and questions on the topic of environmental sustainability. 

Currently, 29 cities and regions are participating in the EFFE Seal for Festivals Cities and Regions. This initiative provides a dynamic platform for cities to actively engage in profound discussions and reflections about festival life and exchange practices and policies with other cities and regions, aiming to improve the quality of their local festivals on a European and international scale.

Each of these cities feels committed to their festivals’ communities and acknowledges the importance of listening to their needs and assisting them in their success.
