EMC with some news on future meetings and projects

Please find here below some news of our colleagues about future EMC meetings and activities: 1. Search for partners under the Culture 2000 programme: We have already informed you about the project "ExTra! - Exchange Traditions", which aims at stimulating the exchange between living music traditions in Europe. Together with 4 or 5 (or more) cooperation partners, the EMC will apply for EU funding for this project. If you whish to participate in the project or would like to receive further information about the state of development, please contact the EMC secretariat. 2. EMC conference in Malmö A first preparation meeting of the EMC conference 2006, Malmö, has taken place in August. The aim of the conference "Turning points: Music - Youth - Diversity" is to enhance the integration of divers cultures in Europe through musical activities for young people. In three sessions the themes "artists in producation - artists in education - artists in the media" will be addressed. Model projects concerning one of the issues will be presented and discussed. All EMC members are invited to hand in proposals for model projects before 1 November 2005. (An official call for proposals with further information about the conference will be sent to you soon). Workshops, keynotes and concerts will complete the programme. 3. World Forum on Music in Los Angeles Almost all EMC Board members as well as Simone Dudt and Ruth Jakobi from the EMC office will be present at the World Forum on Music in Los Angeles. We are very much looking forward to meeting many of you there. - If you have not yet send your registration form for the forum, please note that the fax-number has changed: 0012132025511 4. Meeting with the European Commission We have managed to receive an invitation from Harald Hartung, head of the unit "Culture" at the European Commision for a personal meeting in Brussels (21 September 2005). Wouter Turkenburg and Ruth Jakobi will attend this meeting. Agenda items willl be: improvement of the information exchange between EMC and EU, concerns about the Culture 2007 programme, a report about the EFMET project and an introduction to our new project "ExTra!"
