1-day conference 'Festivals - challenges of growth' rewarding

15 March 2006

Almost 200 delegates (festival practitioners, cultural professionals, politicians, city administrators, arts management students...) participated at the one-day conference on "Festivals - challenges of growth. An international perspective", initiated and co-coordinated by the De Montfort University in association with the European Festivals Association, the European Festival Research Project and the Arts Council England on 3 March 2006. The programme offered international keynote speakers, panel discussion on strategic festival issues and festival-themed workshops. All designed to enable delegates to network with leading practitioners from the festival sector, identify strategies for sustainable festival development and to develop an increased international perspective to the programming and management of UK festivals, as Christopher Maughan, Principal Lecturer in Arts Management at De Montfort University and organiser of the conference said.
