Dubrovnik Summer Festival was founded in 1950 and ever since has been the most celebrated cultural event in Croatia. The Festival repertoire reflects the ambience and history of the city. Performances, plays, concerts and recitals are set in its architectual and natural surrounding, providing unique decors. The Festival hosts authentic open-air performances that are impossible to perform elsewhere without losing the sense of originality. The following summer, during the forty-five beautiful evenings, Dubrovnik squares and churches, streets and public gardens will once again become a country for more than 2000 artists worldwide. Choose - if possible between Shlomo Mintz and Jan Fabre, Marjana Lipovšek or Gonzal Rubalcaba, New London Consort or Uto Ughi, China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra or Russian Symphony Orchestra, sir James Galway or Radovan Vlatkovic... Dubrovnik Summer Festival has had a website for 4 years. It also released a DVD including numerous Festival data from 1950 till the present time. In addition to basic information about Dubrovnik, the Festival and the preceding season, the DVD includes the programme of the 57th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, as well as the photographs and audio and video recordings of many programmes taking place so far, and a venue review with complete lists of music, theatre and folklore events. The DVD was presented on 10 March at the Press conference organised by the Dubrovnik Summer Festival at the 2006 International Tourist Exchange (ITB) in Berlin. From the press (February – March 2006) "Although music - and chamber music in particular - is the heart of the festival, there have also been notable dramatic triumphs, including Daniel Day Lewis and Judi Dench performing Hamlet at Fort Lovrjenac in 1988." Classic FM "In summer, you can’t move in Dubrovnik without bumping into A-listers. But even bigger than the celebs is the attraction of the Summer Festival in July and August“ Simply Travel „The Dubrovnik Summer Festival DVD is indeed a top quality product, which can greatly contribute to further festival marketing both at home and abroad. It is also a must have electronic monograph for all admirers of Dubrovnik, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival and ambience theatre.“ Setemana
