SFX takes over 'On The Rox' and 'Sound & Vision'

5 June 2001

SFX, the world’s largest producer and marketer of live entertainment, announced the acquisition of On the Rox and Sound and Vision, both concert promoting companies who belonged until now to Herman Schuermans, a leading concert promoter in Belgium and one of Europe’s most respected entertainment executives. The acquisition, which follows the recent purchase of Belgium promoter Make It Happen, is part of SFX’s strategy to build a European promoter and venue network that parallels its U.S. footprint. In Europe, SFX currently operates in the UK, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden. With these acquisitions of Schuereman’s companies, SFX will play a major role in the organization of the Werchter Festival. This three-day event represents Belgium’s largest outdoor festival, attracting more than 100,000 people. This year’s event, scheduled for June 29 – July 1, includes Sting, Faithless, Placebo, PJ Harvey, Roxy Music, Beck, Deftones, Tool and The Black Crowes. In addition to the Werchter Festival, other major outdoor shows that have been staged on the festival site include Tina Turner, Pink Floyd, U2, the Rolling Stones and Bryan Adams.
