NEW ART NET - INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE FOR YOUNG MANAGERS IN PERFORMING ARTS 27th – 30th of September 2006 - Sava Centar - BELGRADE, Serbia New Art Net Conference is conceived as an innovative platform for arts management themes, contact making and exchange among performing arts managers from all over the world, with sessions delivered by international keynote speakers as well as participant’s presentations. This Conference will be a starting point in Belgrade for new developments in performing arts sector, aiming at upgrading the participants’ knowledge, increasing international cultural cooperation, facilitating exchange of experiences and fosters development and growth of managerial skills and expertise within the region and further. Partners in the project – Jugokoncert (Bemus), Bitef (Theatre/Festival) and ArtLink - work in the fields of: classical and contemporary music, contemporary theatre and multicultural dialogue. Although these institutions come from different areas, their common goals are: development of partnerships, creating co-productions, stimulating international artistic exchanges and development of different kinds of resources in cultural management. Supporters: UNESCO Chair in Cultural Policy and Cultural Management - University of Arts, Belgrade and SAVA Centar. Who should attend? New Art Net Conference is open to all young professionals (up to 40 years old) working in the field of performing arts (music, theatre, media, production, film, marketing, management, etc) or with a prospective for employment in the sector. This Conference will be open to a limited number of students. Those wishing to participate have to show a strong interest and work experience (paid/non-paid), which will also be considered as references to support your application. Please follow the same procedure for applications and deadlines. Conference Description It will concentrate around four main critically important themes related to performing arts management. We are currently negotiating the presence of other important Speakers. So please, visit our website for updates shortly! SESSION 1 – International Exchanges The objective of this session is to focus on important issues performing arts managers face on a day-by-day basis when contracting international performers, creating co-production with foreign institutions, organising tours and others. The understanding of different cultures/backgrounds and how people do business in other countries can be crucial for a successful event. Speakers: tbc SESSION 2 – Strategic planning and project management This session intends to focus on strategic planning and project management for performing arts organisations, touching on the tools and the competences that need to be developed in a coherent manner to achieve a modern managerial vision and an effective organisational behaviour of cultural sector institutions. Speaker: Lucio Argano – Senior project manager - Adhoc Culture Srl, Rome, Italy. SESSION 3 – Leadership and team management This session will explore a number of issues related to leadership and team management that managers have to face on a busy environment such as performing arts in order to support their goals, development and challenges. Speaker: Susanna Eastburn – Executive director – London International Theatre Festival, UK SESSION 4 – Arts and Media relations This session will discuss about the components of media, marketing and public relations and how they can efficiently be used with performing arts events. Speaker: Andy Hudson – Senior Management Consulting and Media Producer – UK SESSION 5 - Presentation of host institutions, possibilities for cooperation on new projects and future development of NEW ART NET. When and Where? This Conference takes place in Belgrade, Serbia from 27th -30th of September 2006 at Sava Centar. Belgrade is located in the heart of the region of South-Eastern Europe. It has the advantages of being an important cultural centre of the region and point of contact for exchange with Europe. How to Register Please fill in the application form and send it to newartnet@jugokoncert.co.yu Deadlines, Fee and Funding Deadline for applications has been EXTENDED! The fee for the conference is 50€, payable to JUGOKONCERT Bank Account, no later than September 1st, 2006. Only selected participants are obliged to pay the tuition fee. The applicants will be informed about their acceptance to the Conference by 15/08/2006, via email. The registration fee includes: • one copy of the conference programme; • coffee/tea during the conference breaks; • tickets for special events; • access to networks and information through the New Art Net program website and activities. Travel and accommodation in Belgrade will have to be covered by the Participants. However, a limited number of sponsorships will be available for international travel/ accommodation. The Organisers reserve the right to attribute these sponsorships to participants who can provide the following information: financial needs, personal achievements and a strong commitment to the field of performing arts.
