Arts Festivals’ Declaration on Intercultural Dialogue signed!
8 January 2008
The Arts Festivals’ Declaration on Intercultural Dialogue is signed by major European arts and culture festivals in Ljubljana on 8 January 2008: 25 festivals and officials from 17 European countries signed the Ljubljana Declaration and committed to its objectives and obligations. With the participation of 300 EU conference delegates and as part of the official opening of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, the Declaration starts its journey in Slovenia throughout 2008. From there, it travels to hundreds of arts festivals across Europe and beyond! Ján Figel’, European Commissioner for Education, Training, Culture and Youth and one of the initial signatory parties in Ljubljana, agrees with the Declaration statement that “European arts festivals initiated a vital process of circulating and giving visibility to the different cultural streams of European arts and cultures thus representing a huge step toward the development of intercultural competences.” The full Declaration text is available here Click alsohere to read more.
