EFIL Conference: Moving Beyond Mobility

5 February 2008

EFA shares with you news from the European Federation for Intercultural Learning (EFIL). We would like to notify you about our upcoming conference « Moving Beyond Mobility », which fits in perfectly with the theme of the European Year for Intercultural Dialogue. Our Conference will take place in Berlin from October 13-14, 2008 under the patronage of Ján Figel', Member of the European Commission, responsible for Education, Training, Culture and Youth. The conference is organised with the support of the European Commission. It will bring together both researchers and practitioners in the field of international youth exchanges and aims at presenting the state of the art in intercultural theory and practice. While several studies on long-term/short-term and individual/group exchanges exist, they are not very well known in the field and across national borders. Looking at the environment in which international exchanges take place, it remains difficult to assess the practical or the political aspects that promote or hinder exchange programmes. The conference will take place in both English and German. You will find further information on the conference and the call for proposals under www.movingbeyondmobility.org. We will continue to update you on the conference, the programme, the speakers and the participants during the coming year.
