Bart Demuyt new President of REMA New Board Meeting EFA-REMA on EU year of Intercultural dialogue On April 3 2008 Bart Demuyt (Belgium) was elected President of REMA. He succeeds to Jan Van den Bossche, Director of the Holland Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht. He will work with Marie Koefoed-Gouy, Administrator of REMA and with the new board : Vice-Presidents : Patrick Lhotellier, Director of the Festival Baroque de Pontoise, France Enrico Bellei, Director of the Grandezze et Meraviglie, Festival Musicale Estense, Italie Janos Malina, Artistic Director of the Festival Haydn at Eszterhazy, Hongrie Secretary: Anne Hallet, Director of the Philharmonique de Namur, Belgique Treasurer : Albert Recasens, Director of the Ciclo de conciertos del Museo de San Isidro, Espagne ________________________________________ After graduating from Louvain's Lemmens Institute, Bart Demuyt began his career as musician, researcher and programme maker for the Flemish Radio 3. For a considerable time he has worked as artistic coordinator for Musica, Impulse Centre for Music and successively he has been the artistic director for Cappella Pratensis, Flanders Festival Bruges and Bruges' Concertgebouw. Currently he's in charge of the Alamire Foundation, the International Centre for the Study of Music in the Low Countries. On the 1st of September 2008 Bart Demuyt will become the artistic director of AMUZ and the Flanders Festival Antwerp Laus Polyphoniae. ________________________________________ EFA-REMA MEETING on the EUROPEAN YEAR OF INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE A meeting was organized between EFA and REMA during the Musicora Gathering in Paris on April 4th. This meeting allowed Kathrin Deventer, Adjunct Secretary General EFA, to make a presentation of the EU year of Intercultural dialogue and especially of the Arts Festivals’ Declaration that EFA has established. It was decided that a signature of the Charter will be organized in July in Slovenia at the next REMA meeting. All the REMA members also decided to organize events which could increase the awareness of the year of intercultural dialogue during 2008.
