EFA for the fourth time at the Shanghai Arts Festival and Fair

A delegation of representatives of the European Festivals Association (EFA) is attending the 11th China Shanghai International Arts Festival (CSIAF) and the 11th China Shanghai International Performing Arts Fair (SPAF) that take place from 17 to 22 October 2009. More than 100 major arts festivals, international performing arts organisations and agencies from more than 30 countries and regions are participating. Darko Brlek, EFA President and Artistic and Managing Director of the Ljubljana Festival, Jan Briers, Flanders Festival and EFA Vice President, EFA Secretary General Kathrin Deventer, Ruta Pruseviciene and Danas Skramtai (Vilnius Festival), Per Boye Hansen and Silje Gripsrud (Bergen International Festival), Jan Ove Hafstad (Swedish Music Festivals) and Sarah Wilson (former General Manager Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik) are part of the EFA delegation. The EFA delegation meets representatives of the Association of Asian Performing Arts Festivals (AAPAF) such as Goh Ching Lee (former director of the Singapore Arts Festival and Secretary General of AAPAF), Ary Sudetja (JakArt) and Tisa Ho (Hong Kong Arts Festival). In his speech at the Festival Summit Conference on the topic “Our Festival Makes City and Life Better”, EFA President Darko Brlek stressed the importance to “build on existing relationships” as the collaboration between European and Asian festivals is “very enriching for both sides.” The meeting of EFA members and Asian festivals will lay the foundation for future collaboration and joint activities.
