International symposium: Access - A new audience for classical music

20 February 2002

ACCESS. A new audience for classical music Brussels, 5 - 9 June 2002 Symposium aims: The aim of this conference is to identify and inform a new audience for classical music. Extending and securing the loyalty of one's public is a challenge that faces all organisers of cultural events. Instant attention-grabber or the outcome of a long-term policy? Market success or response adapted to changes in the public's taste? Star musicians or musicians who communicate more directly with their audience? Based on concrete experience, this conference will open a broad debate and will encourage reflection and discussion on the subject. For whom is this symposium intended? This conference is directed at both cultural event organisers and those either actively or passively involved in music: musicians, theatrical agents, directors of cultural institutions, cultural events organisers, cultural communications and promotion officers, orchestra directors, those involved in education at music academies and schools, sponsoring officials, cultural journalists or government representatives responsible for culture.
