EFA/ECPNM Ars Nova Meeting 2010

18 December 2009

From 26 to 28 March 2010, the European Festivals Association (EFA) welcomed at the European House for Culture in the Flagey in the framework of the ARS MUSICA Festival the 2010 edition of ARS NOVA. ARS NOVA is a joint project of the European Festivals Association and the European Conference of Promoters of New Music (ECPNM) and part of the FestLab for Creativity and Innovation. It gathered 34 participants from 13 countries under the year’s motto: "Festivals: Open doors. Open minds. Build societies!" (www.Open-The-Door.eu). The latter invites festivals to continue their commitment to opening doors to new artistic forms, new performers, new audiences, unusual venues, unknown cultures, new points of view, new approaches to arts and the world. The meeting offered a platform for a series of concrete project proposals presented by festivals and discussed around the table: many collaborations are already underway. We invite everybody interested to follow up on this very inspiring and stimulating gathering and submit best practices on www.Open-The-Door.eu. A next edition is planned for 2011: We are looking forward to seeing the results of the seeds planted in Brussels. ARS NOVA, the joint EFA/ECPNM initiative, is a platform that brings festival directors, composers and ensembles active in the field of contemporary music together to discuss and initiate co-operation and co-productions in future new music projects.
