International contests Musica Antiqua Bruges 2010

30 April 2010

Since 1964 the Flanders Festival Bruges organizes every year the famous International Contests "Musica Antiqua". They are open to young, highly qualified performers from all over the world, who specialize in the historically informed performance practice. The purpose is not to stress the element of competition but rather to stimulate the highest level of execution. We are confronting young performers with their peers, with their masters and with the public. Starting in 2008, MAfestival offers the winner(s) besides a cheque, a concert as part of the next MAfestival and a number of concerts in close collaboration with important international organisations. For 2010, harpsichord and pianoforte are on the program. Starting on August 6th, you can attend the selection programs in the Provinciaal Hof. There is free admission to these activities, including the semi finals (August 12th). The finals take place on August 14th. You will find the detailed program and the repertoire prescribed for the contests further on the festival's website. members of the harpsichord jury Frédérick Haas Johan Huys Gustav Leonhardt Béatrice Martin Kris Verhelst members of the pianoforte jury Claire Chevallier Alexei Lubimov Linda Nicholson Bart Van Oort Ludger Rémy
