7 January 2011

Music lovers from around the world are invited to the 27th edition of the Canary Islands Music Festival. From 7 January to 14 February 2011, the unique winter festival combines excellent music with a pleasant climate and festive atmosphere. Enjoy a wonderful classic concert with works by Bach and Liszt in the Canary Islands. The 27th Festival de Música de Canarias is offering some 64 concerts in the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Tenerife Auditorium in Santa Cruz, and in other venues all over the Canary Islands. The event represents 34 composers whose works are played by 23 prestigious soloists and more than 1200 musicians, led by eight major world-class conductors. The Canary Islands Music Festival takes place simultaneously on the islands of Gran Canaria and Tenerife, and also on stages around the other islands. The three primary goals of the Festival are to enrich the cultural programme of a region with a long tradition in music; to heighten the international profile of the Canary Islands; and to promote high-level cultural tourism. The full 2011 festival programme is available on the EFA website.
