A new accord sets the stage for establishing a legacy of cultural excellence and fostering an understanding of the arts across the Region. In a momentous act the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Carnegie Hall - a non-profit organization that presents extraordinary music and musicians to the widest possible audience - signifying a new era of cooperation and collaboration between both organisations. The agreement articulates areas of mutual interest, development of common programs to meet unified goals and potential alliances that Carnegie Hall will actively explore with ADMAF. Building upon the shared mandate of both ADMAF and Carnegie Hall, to provide visionary education programs, develop creative musical interaction and foster the future of music, possible alliances will include development of joint activities that foster the growth, progression and awareness of music education in the UAE. “We are both proud and honoured to establish this relationship with an organisation of the esteemed calibre and the international reputation of Carnegie Hall. This signifies the beginning of a symbiotic, mutually beneficial relationship which I am confident will advance the vision of ADMAF, which seeks to nurture the arts, education, culture and creativity for the benefit of society and the advancement of Abu Dhabi’s cultural vision,” said Founder & Artistic Director of the Abu Dhabi Festival, Her Excellency Mrs. Hoda Al Khamis Kanoo. “For more than a century, Carnegie Hall has set the standard for excellence in performance presenting the world’s great soloists, ensembles, across its 3 individual halls. The legendary concert venue presents over 190 events each year; it is home to over 500 independently produced events while the Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall develops and implements Carnegie Hall’s music education programs and educational initiatives. These initiatives are also the driving force behind ADMAF and through our cooperation agreement we become a step closer to fulfilling our commitment to lifelong learning through the cultivation of new works, artists, and audiences” added Kanoo. At the signing ceremony Sir Clive Gillinson, Executive and Artistic Director of Carnegie Hall commented, “Carnegie Hall’s vision aims to bring the transformative power of music to the widest possible audience, to provide visionary education programs, and to foster the future of music through the cultivation of new works, artists, and audiences. Our mission is directly aligned with ADMAF making it a perfect partnership of unlimited possibilities with the potential to introduce a broader audience to the power of music”. By signing this memorandum both parties agree to mutually promote both organisations within their local communities with the aim of raising the profile of cultural awareness through music and creativity, in particular amongst children and young people. Additionally there will be an underlying cooperation and allocation of mutual resources to foster communication, exchange and promotion with partner groups and individuals, locally and internationally. The collaboration will also extend to the development and implementation of events, performances and concerts. Further information can be found at: www.admaf.org
