Culture in Motion: 600 people registered for conference & new brochure published

2 February 2011

Around 600 people have already registered to attend the European Commission’s Culture in Motion Conference and the Stakeholder Consultation Meeting on the Future Culture Programme on 15-16 February 2011 in Brussels (Square Meeting Centre). At the occasion of the 2011 conference, the new Culture in Motion brochure has already been published. The third Culture in Motion Conference will explore, amongst others, the following questions: What is the added value of transnational cultural cooperation projects supported by the EU? And what does European financing enable the cultural sector to achieve that would not have been possible otherwise? A sample of projects funded by the Culture Programme 2007-2013, by the Pilot Project for Artist Mobility and by other EU programmes (like the Lifelong Learning Programme, Citizenship Programme, Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme and European Regional Development Programme) will be presented in order to show concrete examples of how funding is making a difference at European level. Thus, the significant role of culture in enhancing smart, sustainable and inclusive growth and supporting other EU policies is underlined. What’s more, on 16 February (afternoon), the Culture in Motion Conference links up with the Stakeholder Consultation Meeting on the next EU programme in the field of culture after 2013. Participants will have the chance to discuss recommendations and proposals for the next generation of the EU’s Culture Programme. Participants will have the possibility to meet and network with project promoters and colleagues from the cultural sector in an accompanying exhibition. Projects presented in the framework of the conference also feature in the new Culture in Motion brochure. It is available in English, French and German. It includes inspiring stories from people involved in running EU-projects as well as information about submitting an application to the EU Culture Programme. Registration to the Conference and Stakeholder Consultation Meeting is open until 2 February 2011.
