Mobility: presentations of Pearle seminar "Visa and Work Permits” available online

All speeches, presentations and background texts related to the seminar "Visa and Work Permits. Incoming and Outgoing Mobility in the Live Performance Sector" organised by Pearle* on 5 October 2010 in Brussels are available online. The seminar explored issues at stake for mobile performing arts organisations and individuals and discussed ways in which impediments to mobility can be dealt with. The seminar was initiated in the context of the European project PRACTICS, supported by a Pilot Programme for Artist Mobility of the European Commission. Two working sessions discussed issues related to work permit and visa regulation for third-country-nationals coming to Europe and for artists from the EU going abroad. Among the speakers and presenters were: Klaus Ludwig, Caravan Production; Richard Polácek, Researcher and member of PRACTICS; Bjorn Maes, Artistic director Africalia; Frederik Beernaert, Agency for culture Flanders, Belgium; Ursula Murschitz, Legal Advisor to the United Theatres of Vienna; Borbala Szigeti, European Commission; Rita Nagy, , European Commission; Anna Geukens, European Commission; Werner Weber, Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media – Germany; Anna Kadar, European Commission; Géza Kovacs, Managing director, the Hungarian National Philharmonic; Virginia Stern, Vice Consul to the US Embassy Brussels; Raymonde Versali, US Embassy Brussels; and David Pledger, Artistic Director, NYID. Pearle* is the European trade federation of Performing Arts organisations. It represents through its members associations more than 4,000 theatres, theatre production companies, orchestras and music ensembles, opera houses, ballet and dance companies, festivals, and other organisations within the performing arts sector across Europe.
