Nominees selected for the Gaudeamus Prize 2011

The jury of the International Gaudeamus Muziekweek 2011, consisting of Miguel Azguime (Portugal), Rozalie Hirs (The Netherlands), and Tadeusz Wielecki (Poland), has nominated thirteen compositions for the Gaudeamus Prize 2011. These compositions, selected from over 400 entries, will be performed in the International Gaudeamus Muziekweek (Music Week). At the conclusion of the Gaudeamus Muziekweek this same jury will announce the winner of the Gaudeamus Prize. As of 2011 the Gaudeamus Muziekweek, the internationally celebrated festival for young composers and new music will be held in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Gaudeamus Muziekweek is a new and independent organization, which is expanding its festival activities to include new stimulations and platforms for developments within contemporary music. The first Utrecht edition will be held from 4 through 11 September 2011. Be prepared for a lot of exciting concerts in traditional as well as unexpected settings and at familiar as well as at surprising, new locations. The Gaudeamus Prize, currently € 4,550, is a commission for a new work. This commissioned work is generally performed during the following Gaudeamus Music Week.
