8 March 2011

The management of the Music Biennale Zagreb (MBZ) is honored to announce that it has received a memo from the Office of the President of Croatia confirming that H.E. Ivo Josipović has accepted the invitation to become patron of the 26th Music Biennale Zagreb. The memo – signed by Joško Klisović, the Head of the Office of the President – also states: “The President of the Republic of Croatia will be delighted to accept your invitation and attend concerts and other stage music events at the Festival as much as the affairs of state allow. To you and your associates we wish successful preparation and realization of this year's Music Biennale and the World New Music Days Festival.” Prior to assuming the duty of the current President of the Republic of Croatia, Ivo Josipović was also a long-time director of the MBZ and has expertly managed it with the artistic director Berislav Šipuš. Some of his compositions were performed at the previous Biennales. Mr. Josipović's election for the President of the Republic was uniformly welcomed by numerous international music associations and societies. The Biennale will be held from 7 to 17 April and will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year. Along with the jubilee repertoire, the Biennale will also host the World New Music Days Festival of the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM).
