Tbilisi International Festival of Theatre announces 2011 Georgian Theatre Showcase

The third edition of Tbilisi International Festival of Theatre takes place from 29 September until 16 October 2011, in Tbilisi, Georgia. Tbilisi International (in short) is a very young festival. Established in 2009, the Festival aims to attract creative, challenging, innovative artists from the Far East to the Far West. Tbilisi International brings them together in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, cherishing their artistic ideas and creating an unforgettable experience. The Festival runs every year from the end of September throughout October and is one of the major events in international life of Georgia. But not only Georgia – it is becoming one of the main performing arts events in Caucasia and the Black Sea countries. The festival’s reputation has been built on the quality of its programme, with the work of major international directors and companies presented during the international programme and a wide ranging programme of work from all over Georgia in the Georgian Theatre Showcase. SHOWCASE 2011: 29 September-2 October From September 29 September until 2 October, for the third time already, the Georgian Theatre will present its latest productions of established stage directors alongside with young and bright talents in theatre. The programme features around 20 performances of state and independent theatre groups from several cities in Georgia together with theater of capital. Together with performances, this year, the festival also presents the catalogue of New Georgian Drama - translations in English - quite an interesting publication, with plays of young and established play writers. During the 4 days of golden Autumn in Tbilisi the festival invites to explore new ways of communication and exchange, share artistic vision, reach new audiences. Together with the most interesting and challenging works of Georgian Theatre, the festival aims at raising international knowledge of Georgian Theatre as a collaboration partner , developing and nurturing strong relations with a view to attract attention and generate debate.
