Audition call for participation in No Borders Orchestra tour 2012 launched

The audition call for participation in the No Borders Orchestra (NBO) tour in 2012 has been launched. The No Borders Orchestra aims at the establishment of a symphonic orchestra that gathers the best musicians from the former Yugoslavia territory. It is a cross border project with cultural impacts based on universal human values and focused on further progress of social, environmental and cultural awareness. Deadline: 1 November. For the 2012 NBO campaigns, around 65 musicians shall be selected. All other musicians selected at the auditions shall be considered as the NBO members in the following years. Required instruments include: violin, viola, violoncello, double bass, flute/piccolo, oboe/English horn, clarinet/bass clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, percussion and harp. Envisioned as a collaboration bridge between festivals and artists of the region, the orchestra would be comprised of the best professional musicians selected on the basis of auditions in the festival cities of the region. Besides having artistic importance, this project has educational and strong social significance as well. General information about the tour 2012 Workshops and the first session of the tour will take place in August 2012. In 2012 the Orchestra is expected to perform in the framework of Session I (3 or 4 concerts) and 4 more concerts in the framework of Session II in October 2012. The tour will include capitals and festival cities in the region; the precise schedule is to be announced after the auditions. The ultimate ambition of NBO is to conclude the 2012 tour performing in three European capitals – Brussels, Paris and Berlin. All selected musicians shall have their costs covered, including the fees for the rehearsing period and the tour. NBO 2012 programme: • Prokofiev: Symphony No. 1 in D major – Classical • Rachmaninov: Piano concerto No. 2 in C minor • Mahler: Adagietto (from Symphony No. 5) • Mozart: Symphony No. 41, K.551 in C major – Jupiter • Artistic Director & Conductor: Premil Petrović • Soloist: TBA NBO is a long-term project offering musicians the possibility of multiple year engagement. The NBO programme for 2013 includes Le Sacre du Printemps by Igor Stravinsky as well as the commission of a new piece by the Music Biennale Zagreb for NBO exclusively. In 2014 Symphony No. 2 by Gustav Mahler will be played. Eligibility The project calls out for skilled professional musicians of high artistic potentials, open for artistic, human and intercultural exchange, who are ready to work together, face fresh creative challenges and explore further joy of music making. For the first NBO project 2012 (and auditions) musicians should be a national or have been born in the former Yugoslavia territory. Musicians with passports of other countries but currently engaged in orchestras in this region are invited to participate as well. From 2015 the project will be open for all musicians from South-Eastern Europe which will be anounced in a future audition call. Application Deadline for application is 1 November 2011.
