Audi Summer Concert Series 2017 under the banner of “Individual and Community”

28 June 2017

The Audi Summer Concerts organized by AUDI AG is a classical music festival that takes place every year in July. In order to enrich the cultural life of the company headquarters in Ingolstadt, AUDI AG presents world-renowned stars and up-coming artists. Celebrity guests such as Sir Simon Rattle, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Edita Gruberova and Lang Lang have already given concerts at the festival. The Summer Concerts are part of the cultural commitment of AUDI AG. For three years Audi Summer Concerts cooperated with Kent Nagano, the Artistic Director of the “Advance-Festival” – a festival within the Festival.

In their 27th season, the Audi Summer Concerts present once again world-class artists and ensembles. This year’s slogan of the various festival program is called “The Individual vs. the Community”. Every human is a distinctive individual whose talents and potentials fully unfold whilst acting collaboratively. Making music together equals constructing an emotional bridge. The individual championship of the soloist combined with the top performance of an ensemble form an inimitable oeuvre. The Audi Summer Concerts welcome world-class orchestras such as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, led by its new Lithuanian music director Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, as well as rising stars like the Audi Youth Choir Academy. The outstanding highlight of the Audi Summer Concerts is the free Classic Open Air, featuring the Audi Philharmonic Wind Orchestra and the Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt.

One of the best tradition orchestras in Germany, the Bamberger Symphoniker, will open the Audi Summer Concerts on June 29 with a masterpiece by Beethoven, his third symphony, the "Eroica": "Deprecated to celebrate the memory of a great man", he exploded the musical conventions. Haydn's experimentalist Sinfonia Concertante also plays alongside the motto of this year's festival "Individual and Community", oboe, bassoon, violin and cello.

Audi ArtExperience focuses on the promotion of young talent. In this spirit, the Audi Jugendchorakademie will perform a concert on July 16th together with the exceptional Italian percussionist, Simone Rubino. In addition to compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, the focus lies on contemporary works.

From classical music to theatre and design, the Audi Summer event has a lot to offer.
