25 January 2023

(RE)WATCH PR. PABLO DORNHEGE'S WORKSHOP ON DIGITAL

This workshop on digital was led by Prof. Pablo Dornhege of the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin and took place on 17 November 2022 at the 64th Pearle* conference in Paris.

In the framework of the EFA-Pearle partnership as part of the "Revealing the Alliance 2022-2024" project supported by the Creative Europe programme of the EU, Pearle* has organised a workshop at the occasion of their Autumn conference around the themes of sustainability, digital, international cross-border cooperation.

During his intervention, Pablo Dornhege explored how new technical possibilities, such as virtual and augmented reality can be used at the interface of analogue and digital worlds. Virtual reality allows to discover the concept of space in different ways which lead to new audience experiences.

In his research Prof. Dornhege brings together knowledge and solutions from different fields, which can create a sustainable and practical digital future vision for theatre, music and live performance.

New digital solutions, such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) can be used in different surroundings, and allow people who cannot go physically to a performance to experience the event as if they are there. It can also add value to what’s happening behind the stage, or by developing transmedia design, a combination of physical and virtual space.

Such technologies give rise to shared experiences between realities where audiences can easily adopt a different way of thinking during the performance.
